Saddle Creek was founded in Omaha, Nebraska in 1993 to shine a spotlight on the burgeoning music scene that was developing in eastern Nebraska. Successful early releases from Bright Eyes, Cursive, and The Faint catapulted the record label onto an international stage, leading to decades of growth and allowing Saddle Creek to help foster the careers of Big Thief, Indigo De Souza, Sam Evian, Hand Habits, Hop Along, Adrianne Lenker, Rilo Kiley, and others.
We continue to support musicians we believe have the authenticity and talent to captivate and transform culture. We pride ourselves on creating an independent, artist-friendly environment—championing creative control and acting in the best interests of our partners.
Recent releases from Ada Lea, Black Belt Eagle Scout, feeble little horse, Dean Johnson, SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, Tomberlin, and Young Jesus reflect the label’s continued evolution and expanding cultural footprint.
Saddle Creek remains rooted in Omaha, with additional staff in Asheville, Los Angeles, and New York City.
Saddle Creek would like to acknowledge that our offices rest on the occupied territory of the Omaha, Očeti Šakówiŋ (Sioux), Cherokee, Mohican and Tongva people who have stewarded this land for generations and continue to. Visit native-land.ca to learn more about the land you’re on.
