LBJ-105-2
Known for their aggressive, electric live shows, Two Gallants have fostered a dual musical personality by occasionally recording and playing songs with a more stripped down sound. Since the band's extensive touring schedule last year left little time for proper rehearsals, most of these songs evolved in such places as sound checks and radio appearances, where it was more conducive for them to be performed. In late 2007, Two Gallants recorded The Scenery of Farewell to 2-inch tape. Produced by Alex Newport, the EP features several San Francisco-based musicians making contributions with string instruments, including cello, double bass and violin.
The Scenery of Farewell features tracks with origins near the beginning of the band's career, like "Lady" and "Up the Country". Album opener "Seems Like Home to Me" was played frequently live last year while "All Your Faithless Loyalties" is a newer version the band had always wanted to make. The closing track, "Linger On," is a piano-driven ballad that may have been the most requested unreleased song last year by fans of the band.
