Saddle Creek Records mainstay Two Gallants have announced a June 19 release date for a new acoustic EP. Titled The Scenery of Farewell, it marks a bit of a stylistic departure for the duo, who have built a rep as a dynamic, aggressive touring act; the EP will reflect their more stripped-down side and features friends of the band lending their stringed (cello, upright bass, violin) talents to the material.

Based in San Francisco, Two Gallants recorded the EP in January with producer Alex Newport, and their label tell us that "since the band's extensive touring schedule last year left little time for proper rehearsals, most of these songs evolved in such places as sound checks and radio appearances, where it was more conducive for them to be performed."

Watch for a full-length from the band as well, still untitled, in September. Meanwhile, Two Gallants heads off to Europe next month for a two-week tour that culminates back home on these shores with a May 26 appearance at Seattle's Sasquatch festival. You can also check the current (May) issue of HARP for our annual festival guide in which Two Gallants are quoted.
