What is a Mile Marker? It's a point in time when an artist ? big, small, local, national ? swings through the Reverb studios in Colorado to hang out for an afternoon and record a few exclusive songs for you, our loyal readers. We guarantee that these tracks are specifically chosen by the artist and put to tape in a live session. A Mile Marker, in short, is a moment, however beautiful or flawed that moment might be. And hey, we're one mile above sea level, so anything can happen. You probably know Tim Kasher from the indie-rock bands Cursive and the Good Life. His first solo release, "The Game of Monogamy," came out late last fall on Saddle Creek. "Cold Love" was a jam around our offices for a few weeks, and you can hear it along with two other tracks below. Tim's guitar is warm, clean and he has a knack for writing hooks. "Monogamy" being his first solo record, Tim and his backing band still had a few kinks to work out before their show at the Hi-Dive later that night. The guys ended up jamming at the studio for a couple hours after we stopped rolling. More than a few pots of coffee were brewed. We didn't mind.
