The Game of Monogamy

11/03/2010 | Willamette Week | www.wweek.com | Live Show Preview
Cursive and the Good Life frontman Tim Kasher has been writing about relationship troubles (specifically of the marital variety) for well over a decade nowóCursive's 2000 effort, Domestica, is as good a divorce album as they comeóbut last month's The Game of Monogamy is the first one he's released solo and under his own name. It is also his most mature collection, with its horn-assisted chamber arrangements, unusual time signatures and painfully pointed lyrics about not just romantic struggles, but also the weight of the expectations of adulthood. If misery loves company, then this hyperliterate Saddle Creek lifer can definitely use you at tonight's show. REBECCA RABER. Doug Fir Lounge, 830 E Burnside St., 231-9663. $12 advance, $14 day of show. 21+. Map
