In a time when almost every nerd with a four-track, slight knowledge of the guitar and a shoddy heartbreak seems to think they should be releasing a record or two, it's nice to run across a singer/songwriter who seems to have put his guitar and heartbreak to good use. Tim Kasher -- best known for his work with Cursive -- is The Good Life. The songs are his, as are the sentiment and achingly torn vocals. Having left the four-track at home this time, Kasher hit the studio with a slew musicians on piano, cello, organ, percussion and bass, creating Novena On A Nocturn, a record of tragically beautiful love songs.
