This could be the soundtrack to any of the following movies: The Terminator, Blade Runner, Enemy of the State, The Matrix. Getting the picture? This songs succeed because they both remind the listener of 80s synth-pop (think a tough Duran Duran) and look forward to a rather bleak future. The band seems to be approaching this future with a high level of detachment; the voice on the record almost seems to be viewing Earth from another planet, examining our relationships from a distance. Or is he just speaking to a lover, writing to someone he's lost? I suppose it doesn't matter, it's a great ride regardless of whether you can pin down a meaning.
