Blank-wave Arcade

The Faint seem to be setting their sights on 80's British synth-pop
(admittedly, not a sound I'm terribly fond of) but with an angrier, harsher
sound. A hostile Depeche Mode might be a fair comparison. The
synthesizers on this are pretty impressive, at times reminding me of
Kraftwerk or Add N to X. The only thing that really bothers me about this
is the distorted vocals tend to distract from some of the really cool stuff
they were doing instrumentally. Although I'm sure this will turn off many
of the more close minded, finger pointing, "that ain't punk" yelling,
posers out there. This is actually one of the more interesting albums I've
heard as of late, both lyrically and musically.
