Listen carefully...if you're one of those people that buy maybe 2-3 records a year, then get this name right. Because The Faint needs to be on that list!! Absolutely one of the best surprises of '99. This 2nd full length is probably the most refreshing thing I've heard all year! Great. Great and even more great! However, the bands influences are all but new. These guys are bringing back my childhood, when good UK new wave was on top of the charts, and when drum machines and keyboards where everyday instruments. Think a more electronic version of Duran Duran, or if you're not that old like I am, then think a less noisy VSS and you're coming closer to what these four guys are doing. Seriously, "Blank-wave Arcade" is a brilliant record, full of electro bites and melodic/melancholic vocals. The personal lyrics add an extra touch to the quality of this record, which is already top notch. It played for three days straight in my house when I first got it. Thanks to the Baechle brothers, and their two friends who make up this band, and thanks to Saddle Creek for releasing a perfect record. 10 out of 10. Two thumbs up. I'm ending this review here, because no matter what I say, it'll never do justice to how good this record is!!
