The Faint" Danse Macabre (Saddle Creek)
I used to have this mopey boyfriend who would walk around like a stiffening corpse most of the time. I saw that boy stand rigidly in the presence of some really rockin' bands. Then, we were at this '80s club one night-the DJ put on Devo and he actually started dancing. Not just shuffling his feet a bit, but full on human robot madness. That particular "danse" was the first thing that came to mind when I put on this follow-up to 1999's "Blank-Wave Arcade." "Danse Macabre" is an explosion of dark, frantic '80s synths and brooding lyrics that, unquestionably, will get your dance on, sorta like New Order or Devo did back in
the day. Screw that Swedish house mix crap. "The Faint" is my dancing queen selection for 2001.
