While Let It Rest might not pack the explosive power of the questionable WWII firebombing campaign hinted at in this North Carolina band's name, sometimes, there's something to be said for power pop done simple and dirty. Sorry About Dresden fuels their fire from sonic sources that, when used poorly, can lead to a band's downfall: vocals that bay ever-so-slightly out of tune, chunky one-string style guitar solos, dissonant intervals and a general sloppy aesthetic. But when in the right hands, these musical devices can lend an air of charm; a warm, non-pretentious album of good dingy fun. This they achieve. Plus, gotta give it up to the tapping solo in “Going For the Gold"; pure kitsch.
