Fall Back Open

Spinal Tap used to sing jokingly about "the majesty of rock, the mystery of
roll," but grandeur
is a sadly lost art among young bands. There's more to it than bombast, mind
you; it's
communicating a sense of yearning, wide-open, near-mythic possibility. And
you get just that
from Now It's Overhead's "Fall Back Open" (Saddle Creek Records), which
conjures up a
vision of a limitless universe where all it takes is the right combination of
guitars and keening
voices to change everything. Now It's Overhead doesn't sound anything like
U2, but that's the
vibe it invokes. Catch the feeling live Saturday at Go! Studios, with
Statistics opening.
