Summer Of Fear

11/13/2009 | Onion | www.avclub.com | Live Show Preview
With a gentle sprawl of styles to match his quadruple name, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson plods patiently through folk and pop sounds to create the atmosphere of a cool, overcast day. While he's not on the level of the friends from TV On The Radio and Grizzly Bear who helped out with his 2008 self-titled album, Robinson shares their taste for combining cryptic explorations with emotional directness. That keeps him focused as he moves from the glowing piano and harmony vocals of "Above The Sun" to more rocking numbers like "Woodfriend"—sounds perfectly suited to Robinson's new label, Saddle Creek, which just released his follow-up, Summer Of Fear.
