Consisting of two members, neither of whom are named Georgie or James, indie pop upstarts Georgie James will unleash their 12-track Saddle Creek debut, Places, September 25. Formed when ex-Q And Not U drummer John Davis collaborated with singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn, the duo quickly went about perfecting a harmony-heavy blend of classic sunshine pop and contemporary quirkiness. The upcoming record, pieced together in late 2006, features the winsome duo juggling instrumental duties; James handles drums, bass and guitar while Burhenn tries her hand at piano and Wurlitzer. And even though you can't bring the debut LP to your place for another month or so, perhaps you can seek out the band in another form, as they are currently giving credence to their album title by engaging in a bout of coast-to-coast touring.
