If youre looking to get ahead of the curve on new music and movies, youve come to the right place. Were going to introduce you to a songwriter who has stripped his music down to the bare essentials, guitar and voice. With a pretty interesting video to boot. The latest from m-ward with "paste" magazine. Next. Every tuesday we take a look at new music and movies that are just a bit under the mainstream, good stuff you might not have heard about. We bring in the guys from "paste" magazine to help us out, and im joined now by "paste" film editor tim porter. Tim, how are you welcome? Great, thank you. Well start with a muic feature. We have m-ward. He goes by m. Thats his first time. He produces really engaging modern americana with a mix of country, blues, folk, rock. We want to get to a clip on this. This is m-ward from chinese translation is the name of the song. Here is part of the video. Snet i like it. Is it also understated? Very much so. Its called post-war and its really about peace, sort of finding an inner peace when you cant really control circumstances or theres a break-up or the death of a loved one or just making bad decisions in life. Some real great son writing there. We can all use more inner peace, cant we. What about paste picks? Primal scream. Theyre back with more organic blues. If you think rolling stones and new york dolls. Second is eric bachmann, to the races. It recalls springsteens nebraska. And then ratatat classics. This is an instrumental album with sleigh bells. Its oddly compelling. Oddly compelling. Thats an interesting recommendation. Now were going to get to the film that were looking at this week. This is not actually a new release. You have a film thats just out on dvd called kicking and screaming. Why are you recommending that? This is a great release from 1995 from the director noah bombeck. That was his first film. Great restorations and some nice bonus features. Its a very compelling film about what its like to sort of graduate from college and not just not know what to do with life, but to intentionally avoid that decision and try to stay stuck in limbo. I have known a few people like that. Here is a little bit of kicking and screaming. You have never even been to prauge. Oh, i have been to prauge. Well, i havent been to prauge. I know the fall in love with a sculptor and now know how bad american beer is. Beer, they have beer. How bad american beer is. Yeah, i heard you the first time. That is so funny. So funny. Suitly. As you can tell from that clip. Hes a master of observation, sharp and clever dialogue. You think the dvd is worth it for the extras. Great extras. Tim porter, "paste" magazine. Thanks a lot. You can check out paste on the news stands or on line. We will grab a quick break at "cnn headline news
