The Ugly Organ

"The Ugly Organ" is by far the best work of Cursive to date. With their subconscious use of melody in what alone might sound like noise at intervals in songs. The incorporation of a cellist, and an extra emphasis put on creativity, it is hard to ignore this record as being a classic of our time (strong words? but they hold merit). Songs like "Sierra", "The Recluse", and "The Gentleman Caller" have totally hypnotized me in their beauty and melody.Cursive has been putting periodically standard emo records with a somewhat twist on the sound, but "The Ugly Oran" brings their artistic view into new light. After listening to this record I am surprised that they hadn't take this route earlier in their career because now when I listen to previous records you can hear the evolution. Nevertheless, "The Ugly Organ" is a solid effort by Cursive, and should be shared by all who love creative and innovative music. My past perfect scores have been sort of shady and personal, but I stand behind this perfect score … it simply is worthy of the perfect score. 5/5.
