The Ugly Organ

Holy shit! Cursive has done it again. I know it's only March, but this is definitely the best album of 2003.
The Ugly Organ hits hard on so many different levels. Tim Kasher's voice sounds just as great whispering as it does screaming. The cello and organ on this album combine with the traditional cursive style of punk to create an enormously overwhelming sound.
Even though the music on the album is beautiful and emotionally powerful, the big guns of every Cursive release lie in the lyrics. The Ugly Organ boils over with phrases that everyone can relate to, like “my ego's like my stomach, it keeps shitting what I feed it."
Every song on here has a different theme, but they all have a unified feeling. And just like Domestica, The Ugly Organ seems to be a concept album.
I couldn't possibly accurately describe the passion of this album. All I'll say is that the boys at Saddle Creek are on a roll. What's in the water in Omaha?
