I Am Gemini

02/13/2012 | Salt Lake City Weekly | | Live Show Preview
While the Nebraska rock trio Cursive has generally shown a tendency for narrative-driven conceptual tunes, their latest, I Am Gemini (to be released on Saddle Creek on Feb. 21), is lyricist Tim Kasher's opus. This, their seventh full-length album, is a tale of two brothers, Cassius and Pollock, who were separated at birth, only to be reunited in a fight for the soul at the album's climax. Note: This is not the Castor and Pollux that represent brotherly love in Greek myth, but two dichotomous forces of the same blood opposed by intent and righteousness. Ume and Mount Moriah share the bill. The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, 9 p.m., $16 in advance, $18 day of show
