Mama, I'm Swollen

12/08/2009 | Sync | www.syncweekly.com | Live Show Preview
Cursive's sixth album Mama, I'm Swollen finds the farmland indie rockers referencing Edgar Allen Poe and Pinocchio on the 10-track collection, and the band's unique, crazed sound weaves post-hardcore, country rock and acoustic ballads into their musical tapestry. Expect a night of hushed music and exhilarating romps when the Omaha, Neb., quartet and Saddle Creek Records artist visits Revolution Music Room. Tickets for the all-ages show are $12 advance and $14 day of show with a start time for the music of 8:30 p.m. Local hard-charging indie rock power trio The See will kick off the music. The middle act is Capgun Coup, a fellow Omaha band mixing folk and punk in their gorgeous guitar-powered pop.

With two drummers powering their rough-sketched, garage blasts of punk rock, Little Rock's The A.M. Refugees visit Juanita's to unveil tunes such as the growling, grinding, "This is where it all goes downhill" boom of "Six Flags Over Jesus." The all-ages show kicks off at 9 p.m. with a $5 cover and features Billy Dee and the First Time Offenders, and Matt Hall as openers.
