Mama, I'm Swollen
Author: Ross Raihala
For years, Tim Kasher, Cursive's lead singer, used his side project, the Good Life, as an outlet for his softer, more melodic side, figuring such material wouldn't fit his original band. But starting with 2006's "Happy Hollow" and continuing with the new "Mama, I'm Swollen," Kasher seems more willing to play fast and loose with the supposed rules regarding Cursive's sound. The result already has turned off some old fans, but the big question is whether there are new listeners ready to take their place. Terribly named Omaha/Paris duo the Berg Sans Nipple open. 8 p.m.; First Avenue, 701 First Ave. N., Mpls.; $14-$12; 651-989-5151.
