Joel Peterson's third release opens with a broken-timed piano instrumental reminiscent of "The Final Sound" on The Cure's "17 Seconds" album. The sequences backing this release are heavy on the sub-bass drums, coupled with Joel's somewhat out-of-key and distant vocal styling. Relatively simplistic guitar tracks make for a somewhat 'naked' expression when added to passionate lyrics of apathy, regret, and dissatisfaction. The title to this album, while apt considering the content, might be also expressed as "The world through the eyes of a cynic." Well done.
