Oh, Holy Fools - The Music of Son, Ambulance, and Bright Eyes (Saddle Creek)
Bright Eyes is fairly well known now for his somewhat emotionaly tipsy, well-written, feverishly played folk-pop. Less known is Bright Eyes collaborator, Joe Knapp, aka Son, Ambulance, who in turn also crafts a solid folk-pop sound but is a bit more straight forward in his delivery, and actually at times recalls Pedro the Lion. Oh, Holy Fools contains four songs from each artist and each the two compliment each other's style quite nicely. If all taken in at once, however, these songs can be a bit taxing on the ol emotions which, when you come right down to it, is a damn nice compliment.
