North American gigs will resume April 22 in Milwaukee and take the band all over the US, as well as Toronto, concluding in late May/early June with a seven-night stand at New York City's Town Hall. Details are below. Euro shows are listed at Bright Eyes' website.
The band is supporting two new releases: the "Four Winds" EP, which will hit the street tomorrow (3/9), and Bright Eyes' sixth studio set, "Cassadaga," which is scheduled to surface April 9.
The songs on "Cassadaga," according to a press release, are said to be rich with elaborate production and cinema-sized orchestration. In addition to Oberst, the album's lineup includes Bright Eyes full-timers Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott along with special guest performers including Gillian Welch, Janet Weiss (formerly of Sleater-Kinney) and Ben Kweller.
The first single from the album, "Four Winds," and a few other songs are streaming at Bright Eyes' MySpace page.
Last year was relatively quiet for the prolific Oberst and company as they spent much of their time in studios around the country working on material to follow 2005's simultaneous releases, "Digital Ash In A Digital Urn" and "I'm Awake, It's Morning," as well as the live album "Motion Sickness."
The end of 2006 saw the release of "Noise Floor," a collection of singles, one-offs, unreleased tracks, collaborations and covers.
