Conor Oberst is staking his claim to the title of hardest-working man-child in the indie business.

Already scheduled to join Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M. and John Fogerty on the Vote for Change Tour October 1 in Philadelphia (see"Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, Others Join Vote For Change Tour"), Oberst will use the time before the trek's kickoff to put the finishing touches on two new Bright Eyes albums.

Recording at Presto studios in Lincoln, Nebraska, with Mike Mogis who produced and played on Bright Eyes' last album, Lifted or the Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground Oberst has already completed one of the albums, described by a Saddle Creek Records spokesperson as a traditional, folksy Bright Eyes record. Country crooner Emmylou Harris provides backing vocals on three tracks, recorded in Nashville in May. Song titles include "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning," "Lua," "Old Soul Song" and "First Day of My Life."

The second album, which, according to the spokesperson, is more digital and poppy, is nearly finished, though no track titles are available.

Both LPs are tentatively scheduled to be released on the same day in January.
