Every year there are newcomers to the class; some acts blaze into the attention of the masses with an immediate hit, or a cleverly licensed track that introduces their tunes to the world at large. Other artists work for years to become the overnight success that you finally hear - their back catalog comes as a pleasant surprise, and you're forced to wonder how you could have overlooked such magic. 2012 provided many tales of unique sounds and original artists, emerging into the world for the first time, or simply establishing their material and making good on previous promise. Looking back on the past twelve months, Team Buzzine gazed forward and drew up a list of such artists; those who made intriguing first impressions or who are making every sign of coming into their own and making good in 2013...

Saddle Creek Records was the perfect home for the husband and wife team of Stefani Drootin-Senseney and Chris Senesey, aka Big Harp. Their folk record White Hat was recorded over just a three-day period, and it's staggering example of focus, commitment and chemistry between two artists. With a reputation for intimate and spontaneous live shows 2013 looks like it can't come fast enough for Big Harp. More information in the full Buzzine White Hat Review
