The sleepy voiced Americana charged husband and wife duo Big Harp are the next thing to scratch your heads at in wonder. Their upcoming release, White Hat (Saddle Creek), is a highway roller in vein of later Tom Waits and Leon Russell's work. The album plays like a convertible on black top and sounds as comfortable as an old hotel room. For a debut record, it's a given that much room for growth was given which makes the record all the more exciting. Soulful in some places although it is influenced by folk and classic country records, White Harp is a pleasing effort.
