The People's Key

Author: Darrick Thomas
Earlier this month, we gave you the details of Bright Eyes' upcoming (potentially final) album The People's Key, out on February 15th via Saddle Creek. Today, we've got "Shell Games", the first preview of what The People's Key is all about (oh yeah, and that's the flamin' album cover on your right). There's been talk from the Conor Oberst camp that the new album will skew back towards a more rockin' aesthetic, away from the more country/folk influenced direction both his solo and Bright Eyes' efforts have taken recently. I suppose "Shell Games" fits that bill, dropping acoustic for electric, although the biggest departure from, say, Cassadaga, is the organ-like synth work. Have a listen below, and if you dig it, download a copy of your own after the jump.
